What made you first get into fitness?
I started getting into fitness about four years ago. I began working mainly for health, but after each year that passed I became more involved with weights and learning what my body is mentally & physically capable of doing. From there on out I became more and more intrigued & kept going!
What motivates you to show up every day?
My motivation that gets me to the gym everyday would be the results. The results of my body transformation seen in photos and in the reflection of the mirror is what drives me to keep going, followed by the atmosphere of my gym, along with all the positive words of encouragement from fellow gym mates, social media, friends, family and most of all my Dissident Team!
What are your health and fitness goals for the future?
My health and fitness goals for my future is to become a certified personal trainer, so I am able to share my knowledge and motivation with those who have a strong passion for the fitness industry. I strive to always push myself beyond my limits, to maintain my physique, to always challenge myself while keeping up with proper nutrition.
What’s your favorite exercise?
My favorite exercise would be squats. I carry the core strength in my lower body. My workout routine never feels complete without contributing to my glutes.
What made you choose Dissident Gym Wear and why do you feel like you relate to the DISSIDENT Brand message?
I chose Dissident, because Dissident chose me. When approached with the question of being an ambassador for the Dissident clothing line, I have to admit I was skeptical about not being “fit” enough to sport a brand of fitness gear. After researching about the brand and what stood behind the name, I was all in. Not only is Dissident Gym Wear a brand of strength and empowerment, but integrity, self-belief, encouragement and being a positive influence to all those around you. I can’t forget to mention how much of an honor it is to stand behind a brand who’s portion of proceeds goes to the CAF (Challenged Athletes Foundation). Another meaning behind the Dissident Brand, is to support everyone with equality. No matter the difference, the appearance or obstacle, we are all a team who stand strongly together. I relate to Dissident by being bold , going against the grain to be all I can be. To be myself while supporting and motivating others. Dissident isn’t just a name, it is a purpose, a purpose to show the world who you are, no limits and no judgments passed.
What's your proudest fitness achievement?
My proudest achievement is the day I conquered pull-ups! Until a couple years ago my upper body strength needed improving. I always focused on my lower body and core, never giving it a thought about the strength of my upper body. One pull-up a day got me started, I just kept on going, until one, two, three pull-ups a day lead into six sets of five pull-ups daily two years later! I felt strong, powerful, and knew from that day forward I could achieve any goal that I set my mind to.
What is your advice to anyone looking to improve their health and fitness?
My advice for anyone looking to improve their health and fitness would be to first off find a healthy meal plan that works best for you. Your body needs the proper nutrition to function and keep your muscles growing. Proper fuel for the body will increase energy, strength, focus and motivation to keep going! Always remember to NEVER GIVE UP. Results never happen overnight, it takes dedication, consistency and most importantly Believing In Yourself. My motto has always been and always will be NO EXCUSES!! Excuses will not get you healthy, excuses won’t get you fit and defiantly won’t motivate you. So turn those “excuses” into positive thoughts and begin your fitness journey. ITS NEVER TOO LATE!
What’s your favorite Quote?
My ultimate favorite quote would with no doubt be NO EXCUSES! The moment you stop making excuses, is the moment you start building your future. Results are a product of determination, motivation, dedication and ambition. Excuses are just a poor & inadequate way of not putting forth the effort of what it takes to make it happen. You can choose to make excuses or you can choose to make RESULTS! A quote I will always live by!
