Adapt & Overcome

Adapt & Overcome

As leaders around the world deal with the COVID-19 crisis, these difficult time are valuable reminder that, in times of heightened anxiety and stress, we must remain calm, adapt and overcome!

To adapt, and overcome is a powerful way of thinking for any person who is faced with an obstacle in life. Adaptable people flourish amidst chaos while inflexible ones fall apart. Without adapting to change, your effectiveness is limited and limit-ing because inflexibility hinders your growth.  It is important that you have a plan to work from, but you need to remember that you live in an unscripted world.

Things will almost never go according to plan. You must continually manage and adjust. Today’s constantly changing landscape requires being comfortable in uncertainty.

It's not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent but rather the most adaptable to change. - Charles Darwin

Rigid ways of thinking, results in us overlooking new opportunities. The ability to improvise your plans and adapt your ideas when facing changing circumstances will enable you to transcend challenges. The bottom line is that we cannot expect yesterday’s thinking to bring success today.

Adaptability begins with a willingness to adapt; adopting an open mindset, ready to accept—and therefore overcome—uncertainty at anytime. How you frame the problem through your mind’s eye is what determines your reaction, so if you redefine how you see the problem then you can set yourself up for success. Being ready and willing to adapt is half the battle.

If you focus on what's wrong instead of focusing on what you could build, what could fix, you'll never be able to move forward. You'll get stuck. Because we can change, because we can learn and grow in a self directed fashion, it's important to understand that what your choosing to focus on will determine the course of your life. The very course of your life is determined by you, not by people that have victimized you, not by your past, uncontrollable events in your life, not by your failures but rather its determined right here right now on where you chose to focus your energies on. If you fail to adapt, you fail to move forward. Don't ever lose sight of that!

Motivation is a flimsy thing. It ebbs and flows, and often abandons us when we need it most. That’s why we need something better than motivation to help us achieve our biggest goals. We need something deeper, stronger and more reliable. We need to STAY HUNGRY!

You do not need to apologize for who you are, how you look, what you like and what you want to do with life. You cannot please everyone. Do the best you can for everyone around you but do not lose yourself in the process.
Stay Strong.
Stay Strong.

When life throws you a curveball, if you lack adequate mental strength — challenges can fill you with self-doubt and anxiety. Those feelings, in turn, can then lead to negative thinking. This will affect your behavior, which can inadvertently turn your catastrophic predictions into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Staying strong in the midst of hardship requires you to manage your thoughts, feelings and behavior.
