What made you first get into fitness?
The short answer is sports, specifically ice hockey. My weight was always on the featherweight side and as I advanced in rank, I needed to put on muscle. Once I started lifting, I realized that in the weight room, even though I only have one hand, I was no different.
What motivated you to show up every day?
Wanting to continuously better myself, kept, and still keeps me motivated. When life "hands" you lemons, make lemonade! Now that people are inspired to better themselves by my creativity in the gym, dedication and commitment — helping people is my motivation.
What are your health and fitness goals for the future?
Continue to burn fat, build muscle, continue to create energy, feel good everyday — and know that my investment of time and energy is paying off.
What is your favorite exercise?
Deadlifts and farmers walk with a hex bar.
What made you choose Dissident Gym Wear and how do you relate to the DISSIDENT brand's message?
That's easy. When I found that they are involved with the Challenged Athletes Foundation, I knew Dissident was a company representing more than just themselves. Every person I've communicated with within this organization had the same mission: “Never quit! Stay motivated!”
What is your favorite Dissident piece?
Too many to count, but I'll have to go with my first piece — the black Tune Out "DISSIDENT" hoodie.
What is your proudest fitness achievement?
Losing 50 lbs while increasing strength by 175%.
What is your advice to anyone seeking to improve their health and fitness lifestyle?
"Do not quit at the first sign of struggle. Prove doubt wrong. Do not fear limitations. Thrive on pushing through them."
What is your favorite quote?
“Your body may have limits, but your mind is limitless."
