One day. Or day one. You decide.

One day. Or day one. You decide.

How many times in your life have you told yourself that you wished you’d gotten in a better shape, started a business or built better relationships? We all want something, whether it is a new job, healthier eating habits, or simply a more positive outlook on life. Have you ever considered what may have been stopping you from achieving all these goals? Sure, it could be that you are busy or lack perfect genetics, or perhaps, you feel that you don’t have any support from those around you.

Truth is, what separates you from anyone who’s ever made a name for themselves is their decision to actually fight and work for their dreams instead of constantly living in the state of “one day I will get there”. Most of our dreams and hopes exist in some fairytale Tomorrowland. Tomorrow you will start working out, you will stop making up excuses, you will eat healthy, you will go to bed before 10PM… All these things you know you need to do but you don’t because let’s be real: tomorrow never comes. You say you’ll do it tomorrow? Stop lying to yourself; what you really mean is that you will never make time for it because it is not your priority. If you don’t want to do it now, you clearly don't want it bad enough.

“There isn’t a single thing in this world that’s made better by starting tomorrow. Everything you care about, everything you are about, needs to begin today or it may never happen. If you don’t want to do it now, you clearly don't want it bad enough"

Some causes of leaving all the awesome stuff you could do today for tomorrow may include fear, desire of perfection and more often, procrastination. Whereas fear and perfectionism may be harder to conquer, procrastination is a behavior you can deal with by following these steps:

Surround yourself with go-getters

Do you have that one friend who always seems to be on top of things? Chances are if you spend more time with them, you will also become more organized and get more things done.

“The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those with whom you closely associate - for the good and the bad.”

Stop thinking, start doing

Of course, whenever you are getting ready to achieve a goal it is always a great idea to come up with a plan. A little bit of planning can help you achieve your goal; a lot of planning can have an opposite effect. Why? Because you spend too much time trying to come with a perfect plan and not enough time actually executing it. Working on a long and detailed plan makes you think you are progressing somewhere, but in reality you are only wasting your time. Come up with actions and deadlines you need to achieve your dream and then go for it.

Just take the first step

First step is always the hardest. You will never feel you are fully ready, so don’t even try to achieve that before you jump in head first. Your first step doesn’t have to be a major move either. Let’s say you’ve wanted to compete for as long as you can remember. Your first step can be something as small as picking up the date and signing yourself up for a show. Once you do that, you know you are committed and ready to work towards your dream

A particularly frustrating part of struggle is the ability that it has to stop us dead in our tracks IF we allow it. The potential embarrassment of failure freezes us. The possibility for rejection discourages us. The idea of disappointment makes us check out of the game.

Our world today is a convection of deception, constantly the bullshit is on the rise, and the truth, subsurface and disregarded. We must hold true and steady the course through the lies and contradictions. We have to hold the line between our own lives, and the world that tries to breach in.

Gratitude is something we could all benefit from. Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle, and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given. Gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present.
