Happy Birthday, Dissident!

Hey Team DISSIDENT!

I'm proud to announce we are officially 1 YEAR OLD! I would personally like to thank each and every one of you for embracing the DISSIDENT brand and what we stand for. I'm humbled daily to see so many of you representing the brand, embodying the message and lifestyle. I am truly honored to be a part in so many of your personal growth stories, and I would like to share a brief behind the scenes of how DISSIDENT was born. 

When this started I had no idea what it would become. Actually I didn't set out to create a clothing brand at all; I just wanted to create something that was true to me and represented what I was most passionate about, what drove me in life and in some way give back to help raise awareness for the less fortunate. In fact the first name I came up with was MOTIV8 but I think DISSIDENT worked out better.

Sometimes in life no plan is the best plan, and you just need to take that first step. It's not about knowing the future, it’s about doing what you feel is necessary, putting in the work, having the courage and acknowledging that the self-doubt is there but making the choice to go for it anyways. I probably told myself it wasn't going to work more than a few times, but I turned that voice way down and just stuck with reaching my goal.  Long story short I worked my ass off! I still do every day to turn DISSIDENT into something amazing that can inspire and possibly make a difference in people’s lives, by encouraging every one of us to embrace the best version we can be, live on our own terms, take responsibility for our decisions and tune out self-doubt. 

The problem we all face isn't doubt itself because doubt will be there in every situation. It is about having the conviction and the confidence to believe in yourself and not make excuses knowing that no matter the odds you will prevail. Whatever you’re doubting yourself about in life my advice is just go for it, you don't need to wait for the perfect plan. Being successful in any area of your life isn't just about doing the right thing it’s about having the self-belief and resolve to move in the direction of your dreams. I really hope, if anything, our brand, culture and message can help you be the best you can be. If we can make some of the best gym wear in the industry in the process than that's just icing on the cake.
