Adapt And Overcome

Adapt And Overcome

To persist, adapt, and thrive is a powerful way of thinking for any person who is faced with an obstacle in life. Adaptable people flourish amidst chaos while inflexible ones fall apart. Without adapting to change, your effectiveness is limited and limit-ing because inflexibility hinders your personal growth. Have you ever been in a situation where you've carefully planned out your day and then discovered that others didn’t get the memo? It is important that you have a plan to work from, but you need to remember that you live in an unscripted world. Things will almost never go according to plan. You must continually manage and adjust. Today’s constantly changing landscape requires being comfortable in uncertainty.

It's not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent but rather the most adaptable to change. - Charles Darwin

Rigid ways of thinking, results in us overlooking new opportunities. The ability to improvise your plans and adapt your ideas when facing changing circumstances will enable you to transcend challenges. The bottom line is that we cannot expect yesterday’s thinking to bring success today.

Adaptability begins with a willingness to adapt; adopting an open mindset, ready to accept—and therefore overcome—uncertainty at anytime. How you frame the problem through your mind’s eye is what determines your reaction, so if you redefine how you see the problem then you can set yourself up for success. Being ready and willing to adapt is half the battle.

If you focus on what's wrong instead of focusing on what you could build, what could fix, you'll never be able to move forward. You'll get stuck. Because we can change, because we can learn and grow in a self directed fashion, it's important to understand that what your choosing to focus on will determine the course of your life. The very course of your life is determined by you, not by people that have victimized you, not by your past, not by your failures but rather its determined right here right now on where you chose to focus your energies on. If you fail to adapt, you fail to move forward. Don't ever lose sight of that!

A particularly frustrating part of struggle is the ability that it has to stop us dead in our tracks IF we allow it. The potential embarrassment of failure freezes us. The possibility for rejection discourages us. The idea of disappointment makes us check out of the game.

Our world today is a convection of deception, constantly the bullshit is on the rise, and the truth, subsurface and disregarded. We must hold true and steady the course through the lies and contradictions. We have to hold the line between our own lives, and the world that tries to breach in.

Gratitude is something we could all benefit from. Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle, and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given. Gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present.
